Small RVs, also known as Class Bs, Class Cs, or camper vans, are a type of recreational vehicle (RV) that are typically built on a van or truck chassis and are smaller than Class As and fifth wheels. They are a popular option for those who want the convenience of an RV but with a smaller footprint and more maneuverability. Small RVs are typically equipped with basic amenities such as a kitchen, sleeping area, and bathroom, and can be rented from various RV rental companies. Small RV rentals are perfect for those new to RVing or campers wanting to get to spots not accessible to larger campers. Small Drivable RV Rentals

A drivable RV has many advantages including not needing a tow vehicle and having access to the living space (and bathroom!) while traveling. Small drivable RVs are simpler to handle on the road and easier to back up when parking. There are a variety of drivable campers to choose from!

Class B

A class B, or camper van, is the smallest drivable RV out there. Class B RVs generally range from 16-21 feet long and weights about 6,000 to 11,000 lbs. Class C

A Class C RV is built on a van or truck chassis which is much easier to handle compared to Class A motorhomes that are built on a bus-like chassis. A Class C is the classic RV style with a raised sleeping area that extends over the truck cab. Class C motorhomes are usually around 21 feet long but can reach 41 feet. These RVs are great for a family or group of friends as they can provide much more room than a Class B.

The sleeping capacity of a Class C can vary depending on the specific model and floor plan. Small Towable RV Rentals

Small towable RVs are campers that can be towed behind a vehicle. They come in various sizes, from small, lightweight models that can be towed by a car or SUV, to larger models that require a pickup truck or other heavy-duty vehicle to tow. Some popular types of small towable RVs include pop ups, teardrops, and travel trailers. The upside of renting a towable RV is the fact that you’ll have a vehicle for exploring that is much easier to drive around than a motorhome.

Pop-up RVs are lightweight and easy to tow, making them a popular choice for families and individuals who want to enjoy the outdoors while still having the comfort of a small RV. They typically have a canvas or vinyl tent material for the top and walls, and when expanded, they provide sleeping and living quarters. Amenities can vary depending on the make and model, but most pop-up campers include a small kitchen, dining area, and sleeping space for 2-8 people. Teardrop

Want to attract the attention of everyone camping around you? Or, reach more remote locations but still have a comfy home base? A teardrop might be the right small RV for your adventure! A teardrop camper is a small, lightweight towable RV that is shaped like a teardrop and typically has a base size of 4x8 feet or 4x10 feet. They are easy to tow and can be pulled by a small car or pickup truck. Teardrop campers are known for their compact size, aerodynamic shape, and retro design. They typically have a small kitchenette on the back, a dinette that converts into a bed, and a small sleeping area in the front. They are also equipped with a small refrigerator, lighting, and electrical outlets. 

Travel Trailer

A travel trailer can be on the larger side of RVs but offer plenty of smaller models that can be less challenging to tow and manipulate. Travel trailers generally range from 16 - 24 feet long. The sleeping capacity for travel trailers can vary greatly depending on the size and layout. Small travel trailers can sleep 1-2 people with a single bed or bunk beds. Medium-size travel trailers can sleep 2-4 people with a combination of bunk beds, double beds and convertible dinette/bed. Large travel trailers can sleep 4-8 people with multiple beds, including bunk beds, double beds, and queen-size beds. Some travel trailers also have additional sleeping areas, such as convertible sofas or fold-down dinettes, which can accommodate more people.

Small RV Rental Prices

How much does it cost to rent a small RV? The price of renting a small RV can vary depending on several factors such as the location, the age and condition of the rig, the length of the rental period, and the level of amenities and features included. On average, a small RV rental can cost anywhere from $50 to $300 per night, with weekly and monthly rental rates available at discounted rates. Prices will also vary depending on location, with rentals in popular vacation destinations tend to be more expensive. 

While Class B campers might be smaller than Class Cs, they are generally more expensive. On average, you can expect to pay around $150 to $250 per night for a Class B camper rental. However, prices can range from as low as $75 to $400 or more per night. Class C rentals will run from $50 to $200 per night. 

As for towable RVs, expect to pay $50 to $200 per night for a pop up camper, $75 to $175 per night to rent a teardrop camper and $75 to $250 for a travel trailer.
